Day #2 - Saturday

Image
After we completed our fabulous day at Sea World, Shayna and I took a cab back to our hotel, changed clothes and relaxed our feet for a few before walking a little over a mile to the Gas Lamp District where we basically just did some people watching and a little bit of window shopping. We had a great evening just sorta getting the lay of the land and spending some quality mother daughter time. It was nice, there were no distractions once we knew where we were and were in a nice populated area. :) On Day #2 We woke up, got dressed and took a cab to the Hash House a Go-Go where Keely and John met up with us for some grub. This place was greatness! *thanks Cari for the recommendation* Keely is a high school friend of mine and John is her boyfriend of almost a year that I had yet to meet. Time to put a face to the name and see if he truly was everything Keely had said he was....he was def all that and a bag of chips! :) When we first walked up to Hash House it was about 10am and it wa...

Day #1 in San Diego

Image
First off, let me say...Shayna and I had an AMAZING trip to San Diego this last week! We laughed, we joked, we commiserated over terribly sore feet and legs. It was purely awesome bonding time for us as she is about to become a High Schooler on August 24! This is such an exciting time...and yet sad in a way for me as her mom. I just can't believe how much Shayna has grown up in the last few years. On the plus side...she and I are becoming more friends these days...something I was afraid would go the exact opposite direction as she reached her teen years. I am a lucky, blessed mom for sure. Second let me thank my friend Susan Diller for planting this seed! She had the idea to take her daughter Erica (same age as Shayna and is friends with Shayna) to NYC when she graduated from Elementary to middle school. When she told me about that trip and then followed up with planning a trip to San Francisco with Erica as she switched schools again to a high school - it made me think......

New *to us* Swing Set

Image
Back on Memorial Day we purchased a Costco swing set from a sweet friend of ours. It's only three years old and cost us over $1000 less than the original price! SCORE!!!! I have been super stoked to have this up in our yard for Addison and so my niece and nephew will have this in addition to the trampoline when they are at our house. Well, today was the day that the building of the swing set began. If you don't know me well enough by now to know this...then get acquainted with me...I am Dayna and I do nothing in a small way! I GO BIG - always! That doesn't mean I pay big prices, quite the contrary. I will find the best deal on the most elaborate items when I plan purchases. Finding the bargain for a major purchase is a thrill for me...I really could do this all day long every day if I had unlimited space and funds. But I digress...the swingset we purchased is HUGE! So huge in fact that it does not fit where I had planned for it to fit unless we wanted to rip out a...

Ghetto fabulous princess bed

Image
I'm a freak - I GET that! I love decking out Addison and Addison's room! It's girly girly foo foo with everything we do...and I LOVE THAT! I couldn't pass up a mega bargain on a full size bed for our little princess - so even though I have yet to really attempt to get her to sleep in the toddler bed we got for her....we went ahead and sprung for a full size bed to put in her room. I have been eyeballing this bed for about a year now and I can't believe we actually have it in her room now! So awesome! It fits the decor beautifully and tastefully. Well...until I put the toddler bed inside the full size bed frame that is! See...I couldn't wait to put the bed together...so even though we don't have the crib torn down yet, and we don't have the mattress and box springs even purchased yet - I just wanted to see it UP and in her room! :) However, that meant we had THREE beds in there - a crib *which she is still using* a toddler bed, which we planned ...

Pool Time

Image
Yesterday my friend Sharee dropped off her precious 8 month old son Tristan while she went to a dentist appt. I was lucky that he didn't nap the whole time (he usually takes a long nap during the hours I had him). When he woke up he was crying but instantly dried his tears when I picked him up and brought him downstairs. Addison however....not so happy! She saw me holding the baby and started crying and pointing at the floor saying "NO NO - MY Mommy! Baby DOWN! Mommy HOOOOLD you! Baby Down!!!" I couldn't help but laugh and feel sad for her all at the same time. She's just not used to sharing me with a baby! haha She did warm up quickly though and even cheerfully helped me by feeding Tristan his bottle while I changed his diaper! So sweet! I'm thinking Tristan may not have been enjoying this as much as Addison did. ;) He didn't cry though...sweet little man! When Sharee got back earlier than planned we decided to let the kids take a quick dip in the ki...

Summer Fun

Image
Now that the rain has died down a little we are able to enjoy some outdoor fun - we have been making the most of things! Shayna spends all her time on the trampoline these days - She has some amazing skills that I must show off on here very soon. I took some video and some pictures today that I will post up over the weekend when I can upload those - so more to come on that. :) Addison and I recently enjoyed some time at the park and we got a new blow up pool for her to enjoy in the backyard. She really likes it! More than I thought she would to be honest! The giraffe can be hooked up to the water hose and water sprays out of his nose like a sprinkler - but I was afraid that it would scare Addison so I didn't hook that part up today. I figured I was doing good if she got in. SHE DID! and SHE LOVED IT! I had to drag her in screaming when it was dinner time. Sound fun right? haha...it was. :) This is a great start to what I hope will be a fabulous fun filled summer for all o...
