Day #2 - Saturday
After we completed our fabulous day at Sea World, Shayna and I took a cab back to our hotel, changed clothes and relaxed our feet for a few before walking a little over a mile to the Gas Lamp District where we basically just did some people watching and a little bit of window shopping. We had a great evening just sorta getting the lay of the land and spending some quality mother daughter time. It was nice, there were no distractions once we knew where we were and were in a nice populated area. :)
On Day #2
We woke up, got dressed and took a cab to the Hash House a Go-Go where Keely and John met up with us for some grub.
Keely is a high school friend of mine and John is her boyfriend of almost a year that I had yet to meet. Time to put a face to the name and see if he truly was everything Keely had said he was....he was def all that and a bag of chips! :)
When we first walked up to Hash House it was about 10am and it was CROWDED! It was standing room only outside the restaurant when I went up to give our name for the waitlist. The *really cute* guy/host was in the throws of very firmly telling a waitress "then tell them they to get the hell out of here! They need to get up and leave cause they lied to me - we don't have time for that so someone else is going to get their seats!" Whoa...I was rather amused actually. I was not sure what they lied about at that moment, but I dug the vibe already haha. I told the rather firm, hottie that I was "Dayna - party of 4 and I promise I won't lie to him!" He smiled and said..."is your whole party here?" I instantly knew what they lied about! I (not going to lie) said..."not at the moment but they are expected very soon!"
Amazingly, as soon as I informed him that the whole party had arrived, we were seated....with a smile from Mr Hottie host. ;) Happy Dayna!
Now, not to spend an eternity on breakfast...but WOW...let me just say, Hash House a Go-Go has FABULOUS breakfasts and portions that should be...wait for it....
SHARED! Possibly with more than just two people even! Those suckers are HUGE...and oh so delicious!
I even got a free Super Nova champagne something or other (tasted pretty much like a mojito) cause the waiter forgot to order/bring it to me...so it was comped without even fussing *which I wouldn't have done anyway*. I was happy, well fed, and maybe even a tiny bit tipsy after that! haha I love that restaurant and want to go back. The vibe reminded me alot of the Deep Ellum Cafe Brazil...but with an extra punch!
After a great breakfast we headed off to Balboa Park. I had no idea what to expect of this area to be honest.
What I got was breathtaking and wonderful....with a side note of some very disturbing paintings for sale.
We walked through the covered area
where there are beautfiul flowers and plants -

saw some very old architecture, and walked on a cute little trail that gave us a beautiful view, lots of greenery
as well as seeing some other pretty cool old building and bridge structures.
We also went into an aerospace museum and there was an Ed Hardy sample sale going on. Darn the luck...haha.

After Balboa Park we went to La Jolla (pronounced Hoya..haha. I didn't know that!) They took us to see the local beaches,
After Balboa Park we went to La Jolla (pronounced Hoya..haha. I didn't know that!) They took us to see the local beaches,
the caves (we got to walk down into one from a store),
and a protected seal beach that is called the Childrens pool cause they used to let people use it but not anymore...cause the seals NEED it. lol We did get a great view of the seals from out there and really enjoyed seeing them in their natural habitat.
We then walked around on Prospect Blvd and went to George's where we had planned to eat...we went there and got decent seats, saw some the beautiful view from there...and then decided to go elsewhere to actually eat cause it was just too crowded for our taste. We ended up at a place called none other than Prosepects! It was fabulous and they had $5 margaritas and live entertainment to boot! We spent several hours there watching the sun go down on the bay while enjoying the music and conversation with each other. GREAT evening.
Shayna and I were more than exhausted by the end of this evening and our beds were a very welcome place when we go to our hotel. We did take the time to watch an episode (yeah for netflix and laptop computers lol) of Ugly Betty before bed.
