The Downtown Vegas Experience

Our trip (my sister and I) to Vegas took us to uncharted territory. We stayed Downtown instead of around our usual haunt - The Strip. I was a little more than dismayed when I heard our hotel for this bachelorette party was non other than "The Golden Nugget" call me juvenile, but every time I hear this name I think of poop - golden poop nuggets! It just doesn't sound like an appealing place to stay. Plus, I have only really visited downtown one time, and while I enjoyed the "Freemont Street Experience" I left thinking the area seemed, well, old! Maybe because it is?

I was unimpressed from the get go when I discovered that you walk in the doors and are greeted by STAIRS - not a ramp in sight from the front door to roll your suitcases down - not to mention what would happen if you were handicapped? I am sure there was a location somewhere that would allow for this, but it certainly wasn't at the front door. However, I am able bodied so I bounced my suitcases carefully down the stairs and hopped in line to check in. The rest of our experience at the hotel (aside from losing all my money at the black jack tables by the pool) was great, and the pool was GORGEOUS! There was a huge shark tank in the center of the pool and a waterslide that went right through it so you could look out all around you and feel like you were in the tank with them! How cool is THAT!

Debi and I, as usual, got along famously. We travel well together, think alike, eat alike, and overall have come to the conclusion that we are really twins that were born two years apart and look nothing alike. She is my best friend and I am so happy to have her as my little sister!
It was great to get to have this experience with her, we have never traveled together alone like this and I am thinking we need to make a family travel trip sometime in the near future as a follow up!

Every woman there (there were 26 of us) came with the goal to party down! And let me tell you, that is exactly what we did! The most memorable of the partying was done bachelorette style - we all donned wedding gowns and hopped on a party bus with a stripper pole and rode (no men on board) to dinner at an italian spot that I have no idea the name of or where it was located. Every woman on the bus (including the mother of the bride - and the bride is 42!) took her turn on "the pole" (though we all stayed fully dressed of course) and just had a great silly girls only time. I have to say, this was the funniest, most outrageous ride to dinner I have EVER had. Hilarious times were had!

At the restaurant we were greeted with our own section reserved - but the funniest part is that a bachelor party of about the same size was in that same section! Now THAT was funny! Whoever thought that was a good idea when scheduling it...well, hmmm...maybe not the smartest bulb in the bunch! lol. We had a very crazy room and I am surprised the waiters/waitresses were able to manage us all.

All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful trip with a little too much partying, but I guess that is what Vegas is for huh? I am still trying to play catchup on all the sleep I missed while I was there, but I am so glad to be home! Vegas and partying is fun and all, but home really is where my heart is. I missed my family!

Here are a few pics to enjoy!
