What would you do?

Man...I watched a movie tonight that really tested my moral compass.
The movie: Gone Baby Gone
If you haven't seen this movie, and it is on your radar to see...you may not want to read my post cause it will have some spoilers for sure.

In this movie a 4 year old is abducted - police and PI's are trying to find her.
The plot gets twisted and turned a bit (but of course - I had it mostly figured out about an hour in sigh) as they are looking for this little girl.  She has a drug addict single mommy who doesn't take very good care of her daughter - and as it turns out, has a chance for a great life with another family.  But that would require two people to "look the other way" and not return her to her family.  What would you do?

It's so easy to say, she belongs with her mother.  She is her family.  But on the other hand, this child has been given a second chance at a better life despite the means by which she was given them.  When you see the way her mother treats her, the way she is going to have to grow up - it makes you want the other life for her desperately, even though it's not her real life.

Man, this has brought about some thought in me.  I think, if I were in the situation where I had to choose this childs fate, I would have to spend a lot of time in prayer cause that would be a very tough decision to make.

Great movie, very thought provoking - I dig flicks like that.  I just hate being me sometimes and knowing the flippin ending and the who/how it was done before they are anywhere close to trying to reveal it to you.  grrrr....I would like to be surprised sometimes.   (Come on Lost! I miss my nights watching you.  You always surprise me!!!)
