iPhone ruined...
I'm sick...absolutely devastatingly SICK over this loss. Yes, I know it seems rather dramatic to feel this way about a phone, but when you pay a lot of money for your cellular device - and then six months later make a stupid - horrid mistake that costs you even MORE money...it would probably make you sick too.
So the story is that we went to my rents place to hang for a few days post Christmas. It was of an evening the last night we were there that I made my fatal error. I did not have pockets in my pj pants that I had put on - so I placed the phone on the counter in the kitchen for a moment while I did whatever it was that I was doing. I then forgot that it was there and did several things. During that time, mom was doing dishes (and the phone was there beside the sink) then I went to wash a cup for Addison and reached for a towel - when I reached I dripped on my phone! I immediately realized what a horrible bad thing this was and wiped it up as quickly as possible. I then decided to take the case off and wipe the backside of the phone as well.
When I went to put the case back on - I did not realize that it had water in it still and as best I can tell what happened was when I put the case on the water from inside it got into the USB port at the bottom. It started giving error messages that the device I was trying to plug in was not compatible with my phone. Only, I wasn't plugging anything in. :( We put it in a zip lock bag with some of those baggies that have dessicant in them and let it sit overnight. All to no avail. The phone was already too damaged. It started shorting out and eventually stopped coming on at all.
Steve had hoped that the sensors would not show water damage - but alas...he took it in to the Apple store today and it did. The sensor was red in the bottom of the phone and that renders the warranty invalid. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Needless to say, he walked out of the store, called me and the only decision that could be made was made. We had to purchase a new iPhone to the tune of $430!!!! I am sick! Sicker than sick!
Guess I won't make that stupid mistake again will I. sigh....
