It's a Small Small World
A few years ago, we became acquainted with James and Jonna N. through our church. We got to know them pretty well - were in Life Group together and Jonna and I were in the same Bible study group. After some time of knowing them, we came to discover that Megan, the wife of Steve's very good friend for many years Chris R. (who grew up in Nebraska!), went to college with (I think they were even roommates at one point) Jonna and that they are very very good friends still to this day. We all got a big kick out of what a coincidence (or not?) that it was how we all became connected like that.
My very good friend Stephanie R. and I went to High School together in Rockwall. Though we lost contact for a few years after graduation, we have maintained our friendship since reacquainting ourselves. Stephanie is now married to Brian R. and lives in Alaska with their 4 kiddos.
The other day I was on Facebook (SURPRISE! haha) and discovered that I had not become "friends" with Starr one of the wives of a current co-worker of Steve's whom I like quite a lot. I immediately added her as a "friend" and when I looked at our "mutual friends" I saw that we had two in common. One I expected (the wife of another co-worker) but the other one was none other than Brian R. I was a little in shock at first. Surely this was some odd mistake..how could they possibly know each other? Well, it turns out they do! He was the Dorm Director for the guys dorm at Hardin Simmons during the summer that she took a job there as the RA and lived there for the summer.
How crazy is it that people can all be so connected randomly like that! It really is a small world, after all! I love it!

that sort of thing happens to me a lot specifically in relation to Hardin-Simmons. there's something about a tiny Baptist school off in a small West Texas town that just gets around, i guess.
DeAnn went to high school with a girl named Christine who is now married to a guy I went to high school with and they are in our small group here. We realized this all because of Facebook! It's a cool thing to be able to "see" the few degrees of separation between people. Now-if I can just figure out my 6 degrees between myself and Kevin Bacon...since I believe his name spawned the whole idea...
That is funny to see a connection like that where it is unexpected! And I agree with Starr that yes, there is something about Hardin-Simmons!
