Last week Addison and I took off for the Arboretum with Stephanie and her boys Gavin and Greyson. We had such a blast! Addison was absolutely worn out by lunch time after hours of running like a wild child in whichever direction her little heart desired. Here are a few pics of our fun day with the boys. We plan to go back again this week - thanks to my parents who gave us an early Christmas gift of a years membership! We can't wait to put it to good use!

Shayna is getting good at making the music for her school cheer squads halftime performances.  The highlight of my day on Tuesday was watching this performance at the FMS football game.  The girls choreographed this dance themselves and Shayna made the music.  I can't believe how fast these kids are growing up.  Seems like just yesterday we were moving here with our little 3rd grader.   Shayna is the one with the knee brace on her left leg.  

...and so begins the next journey in our life.  We have four more years (AHHH...ONLY FOUR?) with sweet Shayna - to mold and shape her before sending her off into the great big world.  We have 17 years with Addison - and that will be it for us in the youngster department.   Today we received the bad news that my HCG levels had dropped between Monday and Wednesday.  I went from thinking about baby names one minute, to the reality that there will be no baby the next.   It is almost comical how one begins to want something so bad when they aren't able to have it. How a person can think they don't even want any more kids...until they are faced with the inability to make that choice.   What's ironic, is that I had dealt with it.  I was okay with not having any more kids after Addison.  But I decided that we could give it one more try before I threw in the towel.   So we did, and never in my wildest dreams did I imagine we would actually get pregnant last month. We are at a crossroad in our lives.   In September I declared that I was in for ONE MORE MONTH and that was it on the baby making stuff.  We would try that month - and let the chips fall where they may.  I will be 35 in June and this is the last month that we had to have a baby "before the dreaded 35".  This has been my cut off age for wanting to have anymore kids since the beginning of this adventure.  I held out very small expectations that anything would come of it and had accepted that Shayna and Addison were it for us.  Not that I am complaining cause they are a wonderful "it" to have.  Both girls just rock my world! However, God has a funny way of working sometimes.  On Friday, my "aunt" was all of about three hours late arriving - so I did what I always do, I grabbed a handy dandy pregnancy test and figured that once I got the negative result my aunt would appear shortly.  Isn't that how it always works?  It's like taking the test just ...

So this is how the transformation went on Saturday.   We got up - had breakfast together - played.  Addison went down for her nap and we made plans that when she woke up we would go to Ikea for an entertainment unit purchase.  I had looked at the catalog, had in mind what I thought would be great.   We arrived at Ikea - had some lunch with Addison there *yummy* then began our shopping.  We found a gorgeous unit that we both agreed on both in price and style.  It was a unit that you piece together and build based on your own personal desires for your home.  So we chose the pieces that we felt would be best for our home, our style.   We came home, moved items around as discussed in my previous blog.  Such excitement!  Steve spent the next several hours putting the unit together in our front room while Addison and I played around him and part of the time just stayed out of his way.  When she went to bed, the unit was almost completed in our room.  We are IN LOVE!  It is beautiful!  We cou...

In the past, I have moved about every 6 months to a year, this was pre-home ownership. It was such a thrill to go on a hunt for a great new apartment or house. You could find new uses for your furniture, new ways to arrange it - everything was just fresh and fun and CLEAN. I loved it...all except the actual physical move itself. The packing and unpacking never even bothered me. It was a great time to weed things out and find things I had forgotten I had. Over the last few months, we had contemplated a new home purchase - but circumstances being what they are in our economy these days - we have concluded that having TWO mortgages (cause they don't accept contingencies on the home we were interested in) may not be the best idea. Not to mention that it is a horrible time for putting our current home on the market if we want to get a good price for it. Today my friend Stephanie and I had a quick lunch with the kids at Chic-fil-a.   It's so hard to believe sometimes that the two of us...the party queens that have known each other since just after high school and went to the same high school, are both mothers of two.   Me, a teen and a toddler and Stephanie with two boys, Gavin and Grayson who are only 13 months apart - Grayson being exactly 2 weeks younger than Addison.   It was a great time even with (especially because of) the wildness of the kiddos.  I love times like today.  Times where a friend from 15 years ago, when we were very different people from who we are now, and I can come together and still relate to each other and where we are at.  Hanging with someone who loves me for me and won't judge me as a parent - just loves me as a friend.   Thanks for being my constant friend Stephanie.  This blog post is for you... ;)
