It's a Mac world afterall!
I know, I'm as surprised as you! I am such a creature of habit and deciding to switch to a Mac has been a big thing for me. I like my happy little Windows world, a land that I know pretty well so there are no surprises.
Who knew that a simple trip to Fry's to get a new camera would lead to a new computer!
That is exactly what happened though! We loaded Miss A in the car and set off for a trip to purchase a new camera since our "old" one is sorta ghetto now.
We roll into Fry's...find a camera that's "okay" but not really the one we had in mind. They had pretty much nil on their shelves - guessing they had a big huge 4th of July sale that we missed. Anyway, I decided that I wasn't really in a big hurry for the camera since ours is still usable (though not ideal). I guess I just wasn't feeling it at the moment. Before leaving, we rolled over to the computers just for the heck of it. There sat a beautiful iMac.
We joked about getting it for me. Then we kinda joked a little more seriously. Then, as we were driving home we started talking about turning around and going to get it....for reals! I got excited, new computers are always fun, but also scared. The fear/reality of spending $1500 on something I really do not need, and I'm not even sure I want, set in.
Next we decided that instead of going home we would have dinner and discuss if this is what I really want to do. Yes...No...YES....NO, NO, NO, round and round we went! I just couldn't convince myself that it was wise to spend that kind of money on another desktop when I have a perfectly good one already. We wound up back at home after dinner, I just couldn't do it...needed to sleep on it.
Upon entering the homestead, Steve and I immediately plopped down at our computers and simultaneously went to the Apple website and started looking. Which got me to thinking about laptops. That's when it hit me. I have always wanted a laptop. If I'm going to get a new computer, I do not want another desktop, cause then I will just still yearn for a laptop someday and we will have yet another computer on our 'want' list. So the choice became easy. We can either go ahead and purchase a laptop...any old windows model will do. OR we can just wait a bit and save up for the Mac Book Pro....I'm in no hurry.
Well, as is always the way with us and techy items, we started talking...decided that really, it's only a few hundred more to buy the Mac Book Pro instead of the iMac. We thought of a few things that we have lying about that need to be sold anyway...so the money from selling those items can just be allocated to the purchase of our new laptop. That progressed to me saying "weeeelllll, we could just go get the laptop NOW...and that will just force our hand to get those things sold instead of just talking about selling them" ;)
And this, my dear friends, is how I came to be the proud new owner of my very first laptop and my very first Mac! Does my husband ROCK or does my husband ROCK!
