Lemons - Lemonade

I am following up on my December 30th post today in regards to my iPhone.
Things are not quite as devastating as they appeared to be when I was in the mix of it all.
With some research, perspective (and a gift from my super awesome husband) - I am not so sick about this anymore. (Even though I still wish it had not happened - I hate when I make foolish mistakes).

First of all, there is the gift. As anyone who is a friend of mine on facebook has read - this tragedy came with quite an unexpected response from my husband. Steve and Shayna were at the mall - primary goal - replace my phone. Then they were going to just shop around and have some time together. While they were shopping, Steve told Shayna that I was really beating myself up over this phone thing and that he would like to get me a little something special to cheer me up. :) Always a great idea! NOT one I expected from him after having to purchase a very expensive phone. I don't have all of the details of how this went down exactly - but what I DO know, is that they came home from the mall carrying my new iPhone AND ----- a SWEET looking pair of tall chocolate Ugg boots! I have been wanting these boots for quite some time - but just really hate to ask for such a splurge - even though shoes are my most favorite thing to buy EVER! I was more than surprised and more than shocked! What a wonderful end to a horrid day. :)

Second, as we started researching what to do with the old phone, it occured to me that my friend Stephanie's father had recently purchased (and blogged about his purchase and journey post purchase) a Mac Book that had water damage. I looked on Craigslist to see if there were any listed on there. Only one but it was $135 asking price! Wow...who would think of paying that much for a phone that doesn't turn on? When Steve checked out Ebay we discovered that people are paying even more on there! The ads state clearly that the phones do not work or are damaged at best and are STILL going for as much as $180+
I am STOKED! I am planning to list my broken phone on Ebay this weekend and get some of that money back!

Suddenly, the pain is just not as bad. :) I have an iPhone in my hands again (and trust me, this makes everything better all by itself!) - I have a new pair of Ugg boots that are oh so perfect and pretty and warm - and I have a broken phone that is apparently worth almost as much if not more than what I paid for it brand new and working hahaha! Who would have thought!
(I'm guessing they don't have to commit to a two year contract if they pay to get it up and running again? or they are using them for parts - either way WIN WIN!)

Last, but certainly not least - I realized all over again the fabulous man that is my husband. It's not just that he gave me a gift - it's that he was so thoughtful! He was feeling my pain and instead of being angry at me for costing us all that money, he was caring and gentle and loving.
He could have berated me for being careless, made me wait to get a new one - all of which I would have deserved...but instead - HE BOUGHT ME BOOTS! ;) (which also means he LISTENED to me at some point because he got me EXACTLY the ones I wanted).

Life is good in the Breen household.
