Turkey talk!

This year, Thanksgiving is going to be a little different than in recent years past.
For several years we have had family gatherings at our home.  I make a great big Turkey with a cranberry glaze and we have a feast that could feed multiple families!

This year, Steve has to work through Thanksgiving and Shayna is at her dad's for the week.   Dawn is off doing her own thing and that just leaves me and Addison.  We will be joining up with my folks and Debi and Jeff's family out at Lake Texoma for the holiday week.
I'm really looking forward to it, though I do wish my whole family could be there as well.

Jeff will be making the Turkey this year, and I will be making a squash casserole to switch things up a little.  In fact, he is making a FRIED turkey!  I have heard these are really yummy so I am super stoked to get to try it out!  I am even more stoked to get to spend almost an entire week with my parents and my sis and her fam!  I am ready for some good old fashioned family time complete with board games, card games, a glass of wine here or there and some fabulous conversations.

YAY FOR HOLIDAYS!!!

Oh lordy. Fried turkey. So. So. SO good. One year when we lived in Livermore, our neighbor invited us over for fried turkey because he knew Dan was working and that the kids and I wouldn't be going anywhere/doing anything. The whole event was a blast and the turkey was seriously to die for.

It's so wonderful that you get to have a nice *low key* turkey day this year. The whole big event thing by the hostess with the mostest (that's you!) is awesome, but hey it's nice to take a year off now and then. ;)

How fun - I LOVE the Lake Texoma area - that is where my church's womens retreat is held in the Spring - beautiful!

You will LOVE the fried turkey - we fry them every year - Dad being in the Propane biz - he sets up multiple fryers and people come starting at 7:30 in the morning to fry their family's turkey and drink bloody marys...

Mom uses Paula Deen's seasoning for ours - more like a rub rather than the injections that some people do....

Have fun and call when you get back so we can get together...d
